Since 1988, the JAS Motorsport racing team, based in Italy (which we have visited a few years ago), has had a close relationship with the Japanese manufacturer Honda and, in fact, has not stopped to reap successes in the TCR during the last years. Now, the team renews its race car with a Honda Civic Type R TCR for the 2018 season.

This circuit beast based on the new Civic Type R street we tested a few weeks ago sports an aggressive aerodynamic kit consisting of a huge front splitter, generously widened wheel arches or a giant rear spoiler, which according to the team improves aerodynamic load And reduces air resistance.

Also new to the car are the multi-link rear suspension (the new generation of the Civic Type R carries it, but not the previous one), stabilizer bars, a state-of-the-art electronic engine management system and a state-of-the-art anti- The requirements of the FIA standard.
The Italian company also states that there is available for customers an endurance version with which to compete in series such as the well known VLN of the Nürburgring or similar competitions. It has an additional lighting system for night driving, anti-lock brakes are available and also solutions to keep the driver 'cool'.

For the moment the specifications of the new car, whose deliveries begin on December 15, have not been detailed, but JAS assures that the first 25 units will be already available for the competition season 2018.

What is certain is that it has a major challenge ahead, as the outgoing Civic Type R is world champion in passenger cars in 2013 and has won a multitude of tests of the German TCR, European Touring Cars and Half World Competitions.
