The independent Alpina coach is not as independent as it might seem. They have direct support from BMW and the result of their close collaboration comes out such special jewels as the Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo 600 hp that is not afraid of the new BMW M5. Well, in her eagerness to delight us at the wheel, Alpina has repeated the move but this time via diesel.
Yes, you read well, the Alpina D5 S gets its name by committing to a diesel engine, and not for that it is a boring car far from it. It is the fastest production diesel on the planet!
If to date have been a good reputation as producers of the fastest sedans, it was a matter of time to try something like what you have on these lines. They have dared to do it with a Series 5 oil tanker that they have put up of steroids and the result is like little very beast.
Under its bonnet beats a 3.0-liter engine with six cylinders in line that after passing through the experienced hands of Alpina offers a maximum power of 388 hp. In case the power figures do not seem dazzling, watch out for the torque: 800 Nm from 1,750 rpm will leave you made a decal on the seat of this D5 S.
Thus, as a detail, the new M5 offers a torque figure of only 750 Nm. With these guarantees and all-wheel drive, the large German sedan is capable of launching up to a not inconsiderable 286 km / h of top speed that make it the fastest production diesel car on the face of the Earth. The sprint from standstill are equally striking with 4.4 seconds in the 0-100 km / h and 17 in the 0-200 km / h.
To keep everything under control and that we do not get ripped off when we fly low, the undercarriage is the same as the one used on the Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo, tracing the chassis, adaptive suspensions with pneumatic at the rear and the brakes used in that.
The alpine touches extend into a refurbished, sleek and sporty body at the same time and 20-inch wheels typical of the brand. Optionally and as in the BMW 5 Series, you can also equip steering on the rear wheels.
If you have fallen in love prepare 90,400 euros if you prefer the option ranchera or 87,900 euros for the saloon.
