2018 Bentley Continental GT

The third generation of the Bentley crown jewel, designed and handcrafted in England, is here. Crew's "Grand Tourer Definitive" is completely renewed. This is the new Bentley Continental GT 2018, which features a modern look inspired by the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 two-seater prototype that was ahead of the company's future.
In the new Continental GT, which is presented within a few days at the Frankfurt Motor Show, it is practically everything new, from the intelligent adaptive chassis to the 6.0 liter W12 biturbo engine, an improved version of the former that is now combined with a box changes of double clutch and seven speeds, and obtains 635 CV and 900 Nm.
The new GT is longer and lower than before (4.80 meters long, 1.95 wide and 1.4 high), partly because the front wheels are positioned 135 millimeters ahead, which allows a longer and lower bonnet. The front is, perhaps, more classic, although it looks a new aspect, but the rear is a novelty, with pilots in form of ellipse and escape exits to match, with the same form.
The headlights of the model have the latest Matrix LED technology and also have a very particular interior design, as if it were a diamond (also in pilots). Add to this 17 body colors (although you can order any color, to taste, thanks to Mulliner) and large rims of 21 inches as standard, in two different designs, which may be 22 inches.
According to Bentley, in addition to a much more modern and well differentiated aspect with respect to the previous generation, the aluminum body of the new GT is much lighter, but also more rigid, and together with the weight saving in the rest of materials of the model it is possible that the W12 variant weighs about 80 kilograms less than before. In addition, it also improves the weight distribution with the engine of twelve cylinders mounted somewhat more delayed, for example.
The cabin of the GT exudes luxury wherever you look. It still offers four seats but now has more carrying capacity (358 liters). Bentley features fifteen colors for leather upholstery and rugs, as well as a 'diamond in diamond' design for leather finishing, decorative moldings of various types, chrome details or bronze elements for certain controls
The design of the dashboard imitates the wings of the Bentley logo and for each Continental GT use up to ten square meters of wood and it takes nine hours of work to manufacture and adjust the inserts, by hand. Of course, the soundproofing of the passenger compartment is well cared for (9 decibels less than the outgoing model), and laminated windows are used for the moon and the windows.
One of the main novelties of the interior is the configurable digital instrument panel and the rotating screen Bentley Rotating Display, which on the one hand is a decorative molding, to completely camouflage with the rest of the cabin, on the other is a touch screen 12.3 (which is discovered at startup), and finally the third facet are three more classic analog clocks, which show the outside temperature, a compass and a stopwatch.
The seats, adjustable in up to 20 parameters, incorporate heating, ventilation and massage function, and for the most sybarite of the music three audio systems are offered: the standard one, of ten speakers and 650 watts, a Bang & Olufsen of 1,500 watts and 16 speakers or, finally, a Naim of 2,200 watts and 18 loudspeakers.
Under the huge hood of the GT beats the block 6.0 liters W12 TSI, manufactured by hand in Crewe. It develops 635 hp at 6,000 RPM and a generous maximum torque of 900 Nm between 1,350 and 4,500 laps, so strength does not lack, precisely. It is able to move the 2,244 kilograms of the model with impetus: 0-100 km / h in 3.7 seconds and 333 km / h of maximum speed (in sixth, since the other two additional marches are of relief, to circulate of way relaxed).
In addition, the twelve cylinders return an approved consumption of 14.2 liters to the hundred kilometers (278 g / km of CO2), thanks to the technology Start / Stop, to injection of fuel of high and low pressure, to the way candle of conduction and to the system of selective disconnection of cylinders, that allows to circulate in mode 'six cylinders'. Even so, it also features Sport Launch, for quick departures. The tank, by the way, is 90 liters.
Of course, the model incorporates a system of total traction - of new development - that instead of dividing the motor torque between both axes in a 40:60, it does it constantly varying the distribution according to each situation. So, it can behave like a rear-wheel drive, as long as you do not need force on the front end.
The adaptive chassis (three modes: Comfort, Bentley and Sport) is able to adjust the hardness of the stabilizer bars of both axles - both the two-and also the pneumatic dampers, counteracting the lateral inertia to maximize ride comfort. The brake equipment consists of 420 mm and 380 mm discs behind, together with ten and four piston calipers respectively.
To make matters worse, the new GT 2018 offers assistance systems such as the active lane maintenance assistant, the parking attendant or the jams wizard, among others.
