The second generation McLaren Super Series has already arrived. The British brand based in Woking has unveiled today in the Geneva Motor Show the new McLaren 720S, substitute 650S. As its name suggests, its power amounts to 720 hp, but it is also lighter, faster and dynamically capable than its predecessor, with a highly worked aerodynamics.

This McLaren 720S -4.54 meters- debuts a new 4.0-liter V8 engine, thus breaking with the family tradition of using the 3.8-liter V8 biturbo - the only one for the full range. According to the manufacturer, 41% of the components of this V8 of greater displacement are totally new. In addition to those 720 hp at 7,500 RPM, it also develops a maximum torque of 770 Nm from 5,500 laps.

Thanks to such a beast of propellant, to the SSG change of seven speeds and to a weight in empty of 1,283 kilograms, facilitated among other things by a monocasco of carbon (McLaren Monocage II) and many elements of titanium, the McLaren 720S accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds, 0 to 200 km / h in 7.8 seconds and 0 to 300 km / h in 21.4 seconds. All this with an approved consumption of 10.7 liters per hundred kilometers

In addition, it reaches 341 km / h and, due to its huge carboceramic system with 390 millimeter discs on the front axle and 380 mm in the rear, it is capable of stopping from 200 km / h in 4.6 seconds and 117 meters, and from 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds and 29.7 meters. Underneath the body hides McLaren's proactive chassis control system (PCC II), new double-wishbone suspension and independent adaptive dampers, as well as an electrohydraulic steering with electric assistance and 245/35 / R19 93Y and 305/30 / R20 tires 103Y.

McLaren 720S Interior

Outwardly, the design is a spectacle, but it stands out mainly for losing the side air intakes for the radiators - which all his brothers carry -, in favor of a kind of aerodynamic channel on the butterfly doors, more discreet yet striking, which directs air to the radiators to cool the centrally mounted V8 engine.

Inside, high-quality leather, aluminum moldings, a carbon fiber inserts steering wheel, contrast stitching, a digital instrument panel (McLaren Driver Interface) that can be hidden to improve visibility (better see the video) and a central console that opens the controls and appears to be even more oriented towards the driver. It has a front ported of 150 liters and a rear of 210 liters.

The model is already on sale in the UK from 208,600 pounds - or 240,600 euros to change - although the first units will be delivered in the month of May.
