The new generation of the Suzuki Swift lacked an important detail: the sportiest version of the range, the Swift Sport. The Japanese manufacturer has just announced that this variant will be presented in September during the Frankfurt Motor Show, but we can already see the first picture of the model.
At the moment Suzuki has not given details on this future Swift Sport, beyond promising a redesign and the same levels of enjoyment at the wheel that already offered the previous one. Meanwhile, it is the British publication Autocar that advances some details, like the step to a turbo engine.
According to the English magazine, this Swift Sport will leave behind the 1.6-liter atmospheric block of 136 hp that equips the outgoing model, in favor of a turbocharged engine inherited from another model of the house, the Suzuki Vitara. It would be a 1.4 liter Boosterjet of about 140 hp.
The current model weighs 1,045 kilograms and, according to rumors, the new generation could even lower the barrier of the ton, also keeping the manual gearbox and agile behavior and rewarding for the driver. This new Swift Sport is expected to be on sale next summer.
As for the equipment available, it is easy to imagine that the top of the Swift family has everything that was already available for the most equipped version of the standard Swift, such as a 4.2-inch LCD in the instrument cluster and assists such as obstacle detector, inadvertent lane change alert, adaptive cruise control or the road light assistant, among other things.
