During the last Paris Motor Show, Mercedes-AMG chief Tobias Moers announced a future hyper-sport of Affalterbach, which now has a name. Known internally as R50, this beastly Formula 1 engine project will be called Project One, as Moers himself said at the Detroit Motor Show. The question now is, for when?
The German company, which for the moment only showed the silhouette of the model and the forms behind it (the header image is the most recent teaser), intends to present the Project One before the end of the year, since in 2017 the 50th anniversary of AMG and would be a great way to celebrate it. So it is very likely that we will see him at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
As Moers revealed in his day, this hyper-sport will have Formula 1 technology. Nothing "inspired by F1", no. Project One will equip a hybrid propulsion system such as the single-seat Mercedes-AMG (1.6 liter V6 + electric) and will have full drive thanks to an electric motor that will give life to the front axle when necessary.
In Affalterbach promise a power superior to 1.000 hp for this two-seater, which by its lines reminds irremediably the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR. Although not yet clear, production is expected to be limited to between 200 and 300 units, and the price of each could be around 2.4 million euros
