Nobody is surprised because a few days after its official presentation, images of the new model are leaked on the network. In this case the victim has been the Volvo XC40. Due to a mistake by Volvo Hungary, the images of the new model were published ahead of time (the car will be officially presented in a week).
Although thanks to this ruling we know the physiognomy of Volvo's new compact SUV, the manufacturer's Hungarian subsidiary has not leaked any technical data. For that we will have to wait for the official statement from Volvo.
When seeing the images I have the feeling of already having seen the Volvo XC40. And so it is. It turns out that the XC40's serial version would be virtually identical to the XC40.1 concept car the brand introduced in 2016. The differences between models are minimal, such as door mirrors, door hands, tires or front bumper LEDs. Otherwise, nothing changes (it's even more blatant when repeating the color scheme between the two models).
The dashboard, while less luxurious looking retains the stylistic essence of what we could see in the Volvo XC60 and XC90, for example.
The Volvo XC40 shares the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform with the Lynk & Co 01. It should be available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive variants. In terms of engines, there is talk of the 3-cylinder (1.5 liter) and 4-cylinder (2.0 liter) blocks, as well as a hybrid version (3-cylinder turbo and electric motor) plug-in named T5 Twin Engine.
Finally, it should be noted that the Volvo XC40 will be loaded with technology and all the assistance and safety systems of its older brothers, the XC90 and XC60.
