With the prototype Audi Prologue launched a couple of years ago, the brand of Ingolstadt was advancing the course in the design of the new generation of models of the house. First came the new Audi A8 and now it's the turn of the Audi A7 Sportback 2018, which will be on sale in Spain at the end of February.

This great four-door coupe looks brand new, with more athletic and muscular lines. The front grille Singleframe (wider and lower than the Audi A8), an automatic spoiler that emerges at 120 km / h or sharp headlights (Matrix HD Matrix LED with Audi laser light in the top version of the range) are some of the identity features of this new generation of the A7 Sportback.

With a length of 4.97 meters, the A7 is almost as long as the outgoing model, and closer to the Audi A6 (4.93 meters) than the new Audi A8 (5.17 meters). The battle or distance between axles is of 2.93 meters, measures 1.91 meters of width and its height is of 1.42 meters.

The range offers fifteen body colors, eight of them new in the palette (Audi highlights the absence of chrome elements in the exterior design), and the tire offer has options of up to 21 inches. As usual, an S-Line exterior design package brings sportsmanship through changes in air intakes, grille, heelers or rear diffuser.

Audi describes the atmosphere of the interior of the A7 Sportback 2018 as "futuristic saloon", combining design and technology. Especially noteworthy is the configuration of the rear seats, with two individual seats, although you can also order a 2 + 1 configuration, with a central square. The forwards, meanwhile, have multiple regulations, ventilation and massage function.

The dashboard, as in the A8, has two touch screens: a top 10.1 inches (if equipped with MMI Navigation Plus) and a lower 8.6 inches - in the console - from which air conditioning is controlled, for example.

The digital instrument cluster or Audi virtual cockpit, with a 12.3-inch screen, is also available if the MMI Navigation Plus is equipped (which also includes voice control), while the Head-Up Display with information projected onto the windshield it is an option.

In terms of multimedia and connectivity, the A7 Sportback offers all the systems already equipped with the Audi A8, including Audi connect online services or options such as Audi AI remote parking pilot and Audi AI remote garage pilot, which allow the car to maneuver autonomously to enter or leave a parking space.

Depending on the finishing level, the A7 can equip up to five radar sensors, five cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner. Audi offers three packages of assistants (Audi Ai, City and Tour), which can offer from cross traffic alert to adaptive cruise control with lane maintenance.

In the list of options we find the S-Line interior package, panoramic glass roof, heated windshield, wiper with integrated ejectors, ambient lighting or three sound systems, in addition to the standard, the top of which is signed by Bang & Olufsen , with 3D sound.

The trunk now has a width of up to 1.05 meters and a cargo volume of between 535 and 1,390 liters. Audi ensures that two golf bags fit as well as the optional spare wheel. In any case, the electric tailgate can be opened automatically by passing the foot under the bumper.

The Audi A7 Sportback 2018 is based on a steel and aluminum body, but most important is its electronic chassis platform (ECP), which in addition to quattro traction offers four suspension options: conventional with steel springs, sport suspension high recessed in 10 mm, electronic damping or adaptive air suspension.

In addition, the dynamic steering is available on all four wheels, with a directional rear axle whose wheels can rotate up to 5 degrees. Up to 60 km / h they turn in the same direction as the front ones, whereas above this figure they do in the opposite direction. Optionally a rear sports differential is also available.

All V6 engines of the new Audi A7 Sportback include standard mild-hybrid technology, with 48 volt electrical system. Basically, they have a belt-driven alternator that acts as a starter and is coupled to a lithium-ion battery, to recover energy during braking.

At the time of launch, the model will be available in variant Audi A7 55 TFSI, with 3.0 liter TFSI V6 engine 340 hp and 500 Nm maximum torque, along with a S-Tronic automatic seven-ratio gearbox. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h
