The Range Rover 2018 is renewed year after year with small improvements, because according to the brand its customers ask them not to make big changes, they prefer that they simply improve little by little.
That has led to the fourth generation of the Range Rover to be presented in partnership this week in London, and as a major novelty is the arrival of the Range Rover P400e version that, as happened with his brother the Range Rover Sport a few days ago, is the first plug-in hybrid model for the Range Rover model.
In addition to a light aesthetic update both inside and out, with more stylized front optics, new body colors and tire design, the new Range Rover incorporate a number of new features to remain one of the Luxury SUV reference in the market.
Range Rover P400e
At the level of engines, the Range Rover 2018 will continue to have gasoline and diesel versions, which do not change compared to the previous generation, but it is novelty the appearance of a hybrid plug-in version, the Range Rover P400e.
The hybrid system is identical to the Range Rover Sport P400e, so it's about a four-cylinder Ingenium 2.0 petrol engine with 300 hp (221 kW) and an electric motor of 116 hp (85 kW).
Both are combined for electric use only (EV mode) with a maximum range of 51 kilometers, hybrid with both engines or only petrol with minimal electrical assistance.
With this system the Range Rover P400e is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 220 km / h. High-voltage 13.1 kWh lithium-ion batteries have an eight-year, 160,000-km, 70-percent warranty and are located under the trunk.
The car hides the power outlet at the front, perfectly integrated into the front grille feature of Range Rover. It is charged to a standard household outlet with a 10 amp cable which is supplied as standard equipment in 7 hours and 30 minutes. At fast recharge points it can be fully charged in 2 hours and 45 minutes.
The hybrid system has two interesting modes. The first one is called 'Save' and allows to maintain the level of charge of the battery at the moment that we want with the press of a button. Thus, if we believe that we have sufficient load to circulate from the outskirts to the center of a city with restrictions on pollution traffic, we can reserve it until we reach the point where we want to start using it.
There is also another mode called 'Predictive Energy Optimization' (PEO) in which destination data entered in the browser is used to optimize the use of the gasoline and electric motor and ensure that it addresses data such as altitude differences, possible restrictions on traffic, etc.
The P400e is available in both the standard body version and the long battle version.
Comfort is almost assured with the new seats of the Range Rover 2018
Among the important new features in the Range Rover 2018 range, for example the 17 connection points available. We talk about HDMI, USB or 8 Wi-Fi 4G access points that allow the occupants to have total connectivity with the outside world.
Also new are the seats, completely redesigned, with a new padding system and up to 25 massage programs including one on the back that simulates the use of hot stones.
The seats have multiple settings that allow you to choose the most suitable position if you are going to do off-road or if you simply want to travel comfortably on the road.
The new Range Rover also incorporates some technological innovations, like the gestural parasol that opens and closes automatically identifying the movement of the hand of the occupant.
Also new is the air ionization system of the passenger compartment, which uses nanoparticles charged with water to clean and purify the air. They say that passengers will feel better.
LED per pixel - laser lights automatically turn off or turn on the required LED sections to ensure optimal front - field illumination and to avoid dazzling drivers in the opposite direction.
Inherited directly from Jaguar, the Activity Key allows you to lock and unlock the vehicle without having to carry a key, something very practical for example when you go in the car to play sports.
Also in the center of the passenger compartment are the two 10-inch touch screens, which allow multiple different configurations to ensure the level of entertainment and information that customers expect from a car of this level.
