The Maranello brand has just presented its new Gran Turismo V8, the Ferrari Portofino, named after the beautiful town of Portofino in Italy, known mainly for its tourist port. Its body color also alludes to the well-known town: Rosso Portofino.

This new Ferrari eight-cylinder GT has a brand new chassis and boasts of being lighter than the California T, the model it replaces. Its turbocharged V8 engine develops 600 hp and allows a 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds, which is not bad for an "access" model.

The Portofino measures 4.59 meters long, 1.94 meters wide and 1.32 meters high, and benefits from a weight distribution of 46% on the front axle and 54% on the rear. It has been designed, as would be expected, by the Ferrari Design Center, who calls it a Fastback, and ensure that the turbulence in the passenger compartment, sky discovered, are reduced by 30%.

The 90-degree V8 block is the same 3.9-liter of the outgoing model, although Ferrari claims to have made improvements in various components (new pistons, connecting rod, exhaust manifold ...) and installed a new electronic management, exhaust more worked. The power of 600 hp is now reached at 7,500 RPM.

The turbocharger, in addition, has the so-called Variable Boost Management which, according to the house, adjusts the ideal torque in the selected gear. Torque, by the way, whose maximum number is 760 Nm and is available between 3,000 and 5,250 RPM. For its part, it has an average approved consumption of 10.5 liters per hundred kilometers (245 g / km of CO2).

With these figures, and a top speed of more than 320 km / h, the Ferrari Portofino becomes the fastest retractable roof of the house, with 40 hp more than the California T, and has two small rear seats that the brand names "for short journeys".

For the first time, the most basic Ferrari in the range incorporates the E-Diff electronic third-generation rear differential in this case (E-Diff3), integrated with the F1-Trac traction management system, as well as electric power steering EPS, faster and direct. It also has magnetoreological shock absorbers (SCM-E) "dual coil".

The Cavallino brand will present the new Ferrari Portofino at the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September. At the moment we know that it will equip series of LED lights, touch screen of 10,2 inches, automatic climate control, new steering wheel, seats with 18 electrical adjustments and the interesting display for passenger who have already released other models.
