Tesla only manufactured 260 Model 3 in the third quarter

Tesla was a small luxury manufacturer (with cars over 80,000 euros up) until it decided to launch into a lower segment and enter direct competition with the premium sedans of segment D thanks to Model 3.
The Tesla Model 3, which costs about $ 40,000 in the United States, is the car that Tesla must take to be a manufacturer of volume. By this third quarter of 2017, Elon Musk had announced that they would manufacture 1,500 units, with a smooth production rhythm. Finally, it has only delivered 260 units of Model 3. It is not even 20% of what is expected.
Tesla claims the delay to a bottleneck effect in production that started last July. Although, logically, he is quick to explain that they know why the delay is due and that there are no fundamental problems with the supplier chain, such as the large dashboard display, of the Tesla Model 3.
It should also be remembered that Elon Musk acknowledged in August that the production curve of Model 3 would be S-shaped, thus warning that production would have declines. But no one was expected to be with such a low start.
Nevertheless, the delay in production of the Model 3 is not an impediment for Tesla to announce the best quarter of its history with 26,150 cars delivered in this third quarter of 2017. The brand hopes to reach the figure of 100,000 combined units of Model S and Model X in 2017. This would represent a 31% growth over 2016.
