Losing car keys is a problem in most cases. Beyond the inconvenience if you get caught out of the house, then comes the tedious task of having to make an original set of keys. To begin with, it does not usually go cheap precisely and it ends up being more laborious than if you cut them yourself.

Apparently, to the owner of this 1996 Mercedes-Benz SL500 that someone gave him for his birthday two decades ago something like that must have happened to him. It turns out that shortly after receiving such a valuable present with only 75 miles on the odometer (120 km) lost the keys to his car and, well, that's the story because he has not used it since. Luckily, someone has put it up for sale.

128 immaculate kilometers and 20 years of disuse

Since that unfortunate day, the beautiful bright red SL500 has been parked in a garage in Knightsbridge, in the center of London, with no one to take it for a walk. Now, 20 years later, this noble German convertible of the R129 generation needs someone who pays him a lot and updates all the consumables that have had to deteriorate over the years.

This same Wednesday will be auctioned at the Coys Spring Classics with a mile more, 80 in total (128 km), just for transport and tuning. Beyond the almost perfect state of the car, if there is any doubt, the owner offers a certificate that guarantees the real mileage.

Because of the particularity of this hidden find and its virtually new status, no one knows how to estimate how much the final price of the SL500 will go up. At least we can be happy that he is going to have a second life instead of rotting into oblivion, and in passing that his new owner does not lose the keys again.
